Hardcover. London, Tegg & Co., 1st, 1839, Book: Fair, Dust Jacket: None, 367 pages, hardcover. A very rare 1839 1st edition. Engraved green cloth cover boards are in good shape. The exterior of the spine is falling apart, and the front interior hinge is cracked; as a result the binding is very loose, delicate, and in need of repair. Interior pages are all legible. Some water staining is present on the outside edge of the last few pages, which does not interfere with any text blocks. This timeless classic brings to life the mythological figures of Greece and Rome that have shaped Western culture. B&W illustrations of various figures separate each section, these illustrations have been artfully colored in with watercolor on the first 44 pages. The names of two previous owners are inscribed on the front end page, and various other minor markings are present throughout. Record # 33740
