Black cloth covers with gilt titles are clean and bright, as are interior pages. Binding is solid. Contains B&W illustrations throughout. This book is a monumental portfolio of 58 mixed-media print engravings that the French artist considered the masterwork of his life. Rouault combined photogravure, etching, dry point, and aquatint on heavy paper to achieve deep, dramatic tones of black and luminous light. A paste-in is present on the front end page with the previous owner's name, otherwise clean copy. Record # 34627
